Rutland waterLocal Attractions

Shore Link bus will take you all around Rutland water and operates 7 days a week throughout the year. You can take your bike on for free. Just put your hand out and the bus will stop for you wherever you are!!

Rutland has its very own hop-on, hop-off bus which connects Rutland Water with Oakham, Uppingham and the surrounding villages.

Eyebrook Reservoir- My favourite place– a 400 acre reservoir in an idyllic location offering visitors peaceful and tranquil surroundings for fly fishing, walking, and bird watching. Eyebrook was also one of the practice reservoirs for the famous WWII Dambusters.


An attractive market town and home to many antique shops just over a mile away. Weekly market  every Friday.

Red Kites are now resident and widespread in the county following reintroduction programs over the last few years. Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre The wilderness you won’t want to leave. The Rutland Falconry and Owl centre is a popular place to be and not just for people.

The Anglian Water Bird Watching Centre with its superb facilities is located on the Egleton area of the nature reserve. It is open daily throughout the year


With Panoramic views of Rutland Water. You have a choice of the challenging 18 hole Normanton course or nine par 3 holes on the Hambleton course.


Rutland Water sports Centre is on the north shore of Rutland Water Park at Whitwell. This is a day sailing centre providing a great place to hold or enrol in events, courses, activity days, corporate days.The centre is a RYA and an AALA registered school. Rutland Water sports also offers a selection of clothing accessories and equipment all year round.

A wide range of permits are available to fish the water and fishing boats can be hired for the day from the fishing lodge at Normanton.

Giant Store Rutland have a huge fleet of hire bikes to enjoy a ride around Rutland Water. . 

Rockingham Castle – 15 minutes away    

Rockingham Motor Speedway – One of the UK’s newest major racing circuits, a location for a round of the British Superbike Championship, corporate and private driving days. Twenty minutes drive

Rutland villages– Rutland is peppered with picturesque villages

If you are there on a Saturday I highly recommend the Thai take-away food stall in Red Lion Square!!

Rutland’scentral location makes it an ideal place to stay during a holiday to the East Midlands. Close at hand are a great range of fascinating attractions and all within an hour’s drive
